The FDA Is Banning Artificial Dyes From Food. But They're Still In Your Bath

You might've seen the headlines: the FDA is banning synthetic dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1 from food products by the end of 2026.

That's a big win.

These dyes have been linked to everything from behavioral issues to potential cancer risk. But here's something most people don't know... Those same dyes are still in your bath. If you've used a brightly colored bath bomb or bubble soak lately, chances are you've soaked in the very ingredients the FDA is removing from the food supply.

Your skin is your largest organ. And warm water? It opens your pores-making it easier for anything in the bath to get absorbed into your body. Yet because personal care products are regulated differently than food, these dyes are still allowed in bath products, despite the health concerns.

That's why at Mom Bomb, we don't use FD&C dyes. We never have. We believe that clean, safe products should be the default-not the exception. So the next time you drop something into your tub, ask yourself: If it's not safe to eat... is it really safe to soak in?

You deserve better. And we're here to deliver it.
